Particles: Soft Focus #02
Particles: Soft Focus is an abstract painting on a 27” x 32” canvas.
According to quantum theory, particles are waves, then particles, then wave again - blinking in and out of our reality, existing in two places simultaneously.
Even weirder, our active observation of these particles affects their actions!
Make it make sense. I can’t. But the idea that there’s some membrane - a field - of sorts where particles become energy - then matter (still energy), and back again inspires and fascinates me.
This painting combines various tints and shades of magenta, aubergine, creamy yellows, burnt orange, and pinks.
This work was created using multiple layers of tinted glazes to build the background. Then in between each application of color, another layer of glaze is applied. A tedious, time-consuming process, but the final effect is worth it!
